We have now released this half-hour documentary, Rasaki’s Drums and the rich rhythms of Nigeria’s Yorubá for purchase in both the educational market and the general public. With an interview and drumming demonstrations by master drummer Rasaki Aladokun of Nigeria, it is enriched by material filmed in that country. Through the documentary, we learn about Yorubá drumming as well as Yorubá religion and culture. It should especially appeal to those interested in West African music and to African Americans whose ancestors come from that region.
Rasaki, who now lives in California, is something of a celebrity, having toured for years with the band of King Sunny Adé, known as the “King of Juju Music.” His talent and showmanship are on full display in the documentary.

#2-From BOX to CAJÓN: Peta's Heritage -- de la caja al cajón: la herencia de Peta
Featuring Peta Robles, with John Santos, Huevito and Lalo Izquierdo
We completed this episode in March of 2025 and are making it available to the educational market. Focused on Afro-Peruvian percussion instruments, it shows how one of these instruments – the cajón – has now entered world music in a big way. It also talks about women as percussionists.
The half-hour documentary is accompanied by several Extras. In one Lalo Izquierdo (present at the occasion) tells how the Afro-Peruvian cajón entered Spanish flamenco. In another, Huevito talks about how he became a percussionist. In a third, John Santos talks about playing in his grandfather’s band.
